Life was good and we were just cruising along until 2010 when Chris suffered a brain aneurism. Fortunately we had surgery before it burst and she came out of it without any paralysis, thank heaven!
That same year I was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis with a diagnosis of probably three years to live. The disease was progressive and took me to the brink until I became very fortunate and was accepted for a lung transplant. I received the new lung on Christmas Eve 2011. I am so grateful for this gift and the ability to continue a while longer. Life is good; very good. My daughter put together a blog covering the journey which can be found on "dwightosborn.blogspot.com" or "Ozzy's Second Wind".
2012 I got to know the University Hospital very well. They are wonderful and the best staff on earth. Go Utes!
I was too immature. I would like to try it now again but then I did have a great time and treasure the friendships to this day.
Dwight's Latest Interactions
In high school dear Dwight was the example of the kind of person I wish I would have been. Through the years of "growing up" I have learned that I should have been more focused on others rather than myself. If I could do high school all over again I would have tried to be the kind of person Dwight exemplified. He was one of the kindest and most upstanding individuals I have ever known.
I am so sad to hear of his loss. We had communicated about music for the picnic up until the last few days before the event. He finally had to concede that he was not well enough to attend. He never complained or went into great detail about his condition which indicated to me that he was still the great guy we all had the privilege of knowing in high school.
Farewell to a wonderful man and our condolences to his beautiful family. Your loss is great but your memories have to be priceless!

Hi Diane. Thanks for posting an update. Hope you can make it to the 55th reunion next August. Take Care.
Your kidding! Another One? Happy Birthday Jim.
Yes, it was Austin. Great talent. I was jealous that I couldn't get the triple tongue staccato critical in performing trumpeters holiday!??
Some wonderful memories come t me when thinking of the artistry and beauty of Mary. I , along with Gordy Lambert and Mitchell (can't remember his first name) played trumped in the orchestra. Not the marching band, or the jazz band, but orchestra. When playing the trumpet in orchestra, it seemed to me we were basically playing a few lines here and there to prop up the the main body of music. I loved the class each day due to the simple fact I loved the music. Mary was front and center. When the orchestra performed Rachmanihoffs Concerto No. 2 with Jane Britton as the featured pianist, I think of Mary as much as Jane. I know it sounded great and would give anything to hear a recording of it today.
If music is on the other side, and I feel it is, We will hear and appreciate her beauty again. Found memories will carry us until then.
Happy Birthday Tim. Just "Reelin' in the years; stowin away the time.." But you do it so well. Keep up the good life!! Thanks for your firendship.
