Rick was well known among the old cowmen in Wayne County as was his wife who was nick named "Cow Pie Patty". Both enjoyed a fovorable reputation.  I was never in the right place at the right time to run into him and my attempts to contact him were unsuccessful as he was always somewhere else.  He hung out in the Robber's Roost Country. (under the ledge). Jim Webb did run into Rick in Hanksville and he let me know that Rick was in that part of the country. That was at least twenty years ago as I recollect. I wish his family well.  Another "individualist" gone and may Rick find sweet grass, sweet water, good horses and good dogs. He's been gone a bit so I suppose he already is all set up.

Rick was one of the most unforgtable individuls that I have ever known.  I'll nevr forget the time when we took my Austin Healey Sprite cross country and pushing it up the continental divide.  We finally ended up in Chicago out of gas and cash.  He talked a gas station manager into letting us service cars for a day for gas and $20.  Tht got us to Quincy where I borrowed enough cash to get us back to SLC. I think our ratins consisted of beer and hamburgers.  When I left SLC I loswt touch with him for many years finlly catching up with him in Debeque, CO where we managed to stay in contact for several years.  During that time Rick was quite involved with the Juior Rodeo and we would get together wen he came to Denver.  When he moved back to Hanksville, we had a brief conversatio by phone but, I was never able to get down to visit.  His obituary stunned me for his loss but allowed me to remember him as the truly remarkable person he was.  I am proud and honored to have known him as a friend.
