SERVICES TODAY FOR STATE OFFICIAL WILLIAM CALLAGHAN

Services will be held at noon today for William S. Callaghan, 47, director of the Utah Division of Administrative Rules and a former Salt Lake County employee. He died Thursday.

Mr. Callaghan joined state government after working as Salt Lake County's deputy director of policy and operations division and as its legislative coordinator. He also was an administrative assistant to former County Commissioner William Hutchinson and worked extensively on studies evaluating incorporation efforts in Magna and West Valley City.

He was born Sept. 1, 1945, in Washington, D.C., to Eugene and Edna Callaghan, and married Mary Boltz in 1979. A Fulbright scholar, Mr. Callaghan received a doctorate in history from the University of Texas and a master's of public administration from the University of Utah.

Mr. Callaghan is survived by his widow; son, Brinton; daughter, Kathleen, all Salt Lake City; brother, Curtis, Bogota, Colombia.

Services will be held at Mount Olympus Presbyterian Church, 3280 E. 3900 South. He will be buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery
