Pamela Chase (Parkin) VIEW PROFILE

Pamela Chase Parkin 5/4/1945 ~2/28/2011 (2 Timothy 4:7-I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith) Our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandma and Sister passed away early Monday morning from complications due to pneumonia while recovering from a liver transplant this past November. Pam was born May 4, 1945 in Salt Lake City, UT to Harold W. and Mary Edna Chase "GG". She married her incredible husband L Kent Parkin in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 28, 1967. Kent was a devoted husband to Pamela throughout their 44 years of marriage and was continually by her side during her four month hospital stay. Pam enjoyed her work as a Registered Nurse for the Granite School District for 30 years in addition to her introductory years as a nurse at the University of Utah Hospital in ICU. During this period the first artificial heart transplant occurred and she had the privilege of being on the patient nursing team. Pam was an amazing mother and friend, so giving and unselfish and often put others in front of herself. Her passion was her grandchildren, Calvin and Lauryn. She and Kent traveled often to visit them out of state, (spoiled them rotten) and spoke of them often. Calvin and Lauryn will always have a special place in their hearts for "Grams". Pam enjoyed spending time reading, cross-stitching and quilting with the ladies from her church as well as riding her three-wheeler at the Little Sahara sand dunes with her family and friends. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she devoted years working with the young women and primary. She is survived by her husband L Kent Parkin, daughter Jami K Parkin Ockey (Scott), sister Sandy Turner (Wendell), brother Harold "Skip" Chase (Diane), grandchildren Calvin Scott and Lauryn Kay Ockey. Pam was preceded in death by her son Matthew Chad Parkin. Mom you will be missed dearly. You are my best friend as well as my Mom. We all love you and we "write the songs" Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 5, 2011 11:00 a.m. at the Holladay Third Ward Chapel, 4568 South Holladay Blvd. Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens. On line tributes and memories may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com
