Paul Talmage Walton Jr.

Paul Talmage Walton, Jr., 69, passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2015 of causes incident to age. Paul was a kind, considerate man, a dear friend to many. Born in Casper, Wyoming on October 20, 1945, Paul was the son of Paul T. and Helen (Baer) Walton, both of whom predeceased him. 

Paul received his primary education in Salt Lake area schools, graduating from Olympus High School. He spent summers of his youth working with his father on the family ranch (Walton Ranch) in Jackson, Wyoming. It was there that Paul developed a love for horses, becoming an accomplished rider and trainer. Paul also developed a great love for Walton Ranch and the devoted employees who helped operate the Ranch. 

Paul received his bachelor's degree and a master's of architecture degree from the University of Utah. He spent most of his career as an architect working in California, although he continued his work as an architect after returning to live in the St. George area and, subsequently, in Las Vegas, NV. During his free time Paul continued to enjoy his passion for riding and training horses. 

Paul devoted much of his time in recent years in working with his sisters to improve and protect Walton Ranch. While serving as President of Walton Ranch Company, Paul worked closely with the ranch foreman, Bill Cawley and his wife Carol, who were his longtime friends and associates. Paul also supervised the work of Stephanie Brown, another long-time friend, who managed the financial and business affairs of Walton Ranch Company and other Walton business entities. 

Paul is survived by his sisters Holly Walton-Buchanan (Kel) of Reno, NV, and Ann Walton of Cheyenne, WY, Ann's daughters Laura B. Thompson (John) of Fort Collins, CO, and Aspen Brinton of Boston, MA, and Laura's daughter Sydney Thompson. Other surviving relatives include Paul's uncle William Baer (Donna), cousins Dr. Tom Baer (Sue), William Baer Jr. (Susan), Sue Baer Lawson (Denny), Lynn Baer, Robert Baer (Michelle) and children and grandchildren of such cousins. He is also survived by long-time friend Lynn Andrews of Cave Creek, AZ.
