Driver Dies As Auto Rams Tree
KNUDSEN CORNER
A Salt Lake man was killed Saturday, March 8, 1969 about 12:25 a.m. when his car went out of control and smashed into a tree on 70th South near 33rd East.
Daniel Whitney Fehr, 24, 1623 Millbrook Road (3610 South), was dead on arrival at Cottonwood Hospital, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Clark Anderson.
Mr. Fehr was westbound on 70th South when he apparently dozed at the wheel, and the car veered off the road, jumped a drainage ditch and crashed into a large tree, the trooper said.
Mr. Fehr was born January 14, 1945, in Salt Lake City to Mr. and Mrs. Norman L. Whitney Fehr. He attended Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s School and Olympus High school. Mr. Fehr was a Westminster College student and a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
He is survived by his parents, Salt Lake City, and brother Charles W., Minneapolis.
Funeral services are set tentatively at 2:00 p.m. at 260 E. South Temple.

Danny was a good friend of mine. He lived on the other side iof the gully that Millcreek ran through, between Kit Bettlyon and Duncan Macdonald. We had a lot of fun growing up, we Millcreek boys. There could be a football game in the front yard at the drop of a hat. Many golf outings at Mt. Dell, still not sure why Danny played with such a crappy golfer. A llittle known fact is we got to enjoy him at Olympus for another year, he actually graduated with the class of 1964, he was just a few credits short. We didn't mind a bit just fun to have him around to help us piss off Mr. Harper. Those were the days my friend, RIP. Dave
